Gravy that does not use turkey drippings recipe?
LIGHTNING GRAVY

1 1/2 tablespoons beef, chicken, or pork soup base

1 tablespoon fresh or 1/2 as much dry parsley

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons Wondra flour

1-2 tablespoons butter

1/2 tablespoon olive oil (or meat drippings)

1/2 teaspoon onion powder (or onion soup mix)

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves minced garlic)

1 1/2 cups cold broth or water

1/4 onion, thinly sliced or minced

This is a casual, quick, gravy to help dress up weekday meals. Use it when you don't have the makings for gravy, or to top mashed potatoes or rice, or even to dress up a store-bought roast chicken.

Feel free to vary quantities as desired. Add more flour for a thicker gravy, or more broth to thin it out. Or try using vegetable broth for a different taste.

Stir all ingredients together in a large pyrex bowl or measuring cup and microwave for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let stand until sauce thickens.

Add a pinch of sage to chicken gravy, or a spoon or so of ketchup to beef gravy or tomato sauce for pork gravy.
WOW talk about a test! No Turkey drippings makes the gravy NOT taste like turkey~ Maybe you can ask the person that is making turkey to save the drippings for you. That way you can compliment the taste of the turkey. Otherwise, if that doesn't work, there are packets of turkey gravy at the store - depending on how much you need to make I would buy a few and try that. When I have used the packets I try to use chicken or turkey broth/stock if I can, to enhance the packet gravy a bit.
MOCK TURKEY GRAVY

录 C. butter or oil

1 C. garbanzo flour (chickpea)

1 tsp. basil

陆 tsp. thyme

陆 tsp. black pepper

3 C. water

录 C. soy sauce

2 tsp. lemon juice

2-3 Tbsp. nutritional yeast

1. Combine first five ingredients, stirring constantly over medium-high flame until lightly toasted. You may have to mash it with the backside of the spoon.

2. When toasted, gradually add water, whisk constantly to prevent lumping.

3. When blended, add last ingredients and mix well.

Yield: 1 quart

Yes, got one for you

2 Tablespoons butter

2 Tablespoons flour

1 C turkey broth/stock from the store (if you can't find turkey use chicken it will work just as well.)

This will make 1 C of gravy. Just increase the ingredients to make additional cups of gravy.

Melt butter in sauce pan, add the flour and stir well cookiing for 2 to 3 minutes (this is a roux). Remove from heat and add the canned broth, stirring well as you add it. Return to medium heat and cook until begins to thicken. The gravy will thicken more as it sits. One way to transport it would be to put it in a good sealing thermos jug, it will remain hot. If you need to reheat just add a bit more broth and heat on low until liquid. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you are taking it to the home where the turkey was cooked you could add turkey drippiing after you arrive and are reheating the gravy. Have a happy thanksgiving.

PS this is the way to make any gravy or white sauce. It is almost foolproof and lump proof. Use milk instead of broth for the white sauce.
Buy good concentrated stock cubes(beef surprisingly) add to pan in which you have slowly softened some finely chopped onion or shallot's and garlic cloves if desired. Bring to gentle boil with some red wine added. The heat will drive off the alcohol content.

Have a great meal!

Just melt a few tablespoons of butter in a saucepan with the same amount of flour and cook for one minute then whisk in some turkey stock or chicken stock until it thickens. Easiest way to do it and it tastes great =]
use chicken broth or cream of mushroom, cream of chicken soup.
